Music Teacher Jobs in Houston, TX

A Music Teacher in secondary education is responsible for teaching students about different aspects of music such as music theory, history, and technique. They plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities, create engaging learning environments, and conduct assessments to evaluate student abilities and progress. They must also have the ability to play one or more musical instruments and read musical scores. In terms of certification, a bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field is commonly required. They may also need state-specific certification or licensure to teach in public schools. Prior to becoming a Music Teacher, a person could have roles such as a Private Music Tutor, Music Therapist, or Choir Director, which allow them to gain relevant teaching experience and work with different age groups.
