Mathematics Teacher Jobs in Wisconsin
A Mathematics Teacher in secondary education plans and delivers lessons to students typically aged between 12 and 18, covering various mathematics topics such as algebra, geometry, calculus, and statistics. They create lesson plans, prepare learning materials, assess students' learning progress, and provide feedback. They are also responsible for maintaining classroom discipline and fostering a positive learning environment that encourages students to engage in mathematical problem-solving and critical thinking. Mathematics Teachers also collaborate with other staff and parents to support student success.
Important skills for a Mathematics Teacher include strong knowledge in mathematics, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, patience, creativity, and the ability to motivate and engage students. They should be certified professionals with a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or Education with a concentration in Mathematics. A teaching certification, such as a state teaching license, is also required. Prior to becoming a Mathematics Teacher, an individual might have roles such as a Mathematics Tutor, Teacher's Assistant, or even an Education Consultant, where they can gain practical teaching experience and develop skills in curriculum planning and student evaluation.
