Co-operative Education Teacher Jobs in Oregon

A Co-operative Education Teacher in secondary education is responsible for preparing high school students for the transition from school to work or post-secondary education through a balanced blend of classroom instruction and work-based learning experiences. They design and implement co-op education programs, establish relationships with local businesses for student placement, supervise and assess students' performance in their co-op placements, and provide guidance to students on career planning and job search skills. They collaborate with other teachers, parents, and employers to ensure that the students' co-op education aligns with their career goals and learning objectives.

Co-operative Education Teachers should have a valid teaching license and a bachelor's degree in education or a related field. Some states may require a master's degree or an endorsement in cooperative education. Essential skills include excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a strong understanding of career education and work-based learning methodologies, and the ability to build and maintain relationships with community businesses and organizations. Prior to becoming a Co-operative Education Teacher, a person may have roles such as a Classroom Teacher, a Career Counselor, or a School Counselor.
