ESL Teacher

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Massachusetts Licensure in English as a Second Language Required
• Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree Preferred

REPORTS TO: Building Principal and Director of Multilingual Learners

JOB GOAL: Responsible for teaching language development curriculum to English Language Learners at varied stages of language acquisition.

PERFORMANCE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Instruct students in ESL classes.
• Assist general and special education teachers with lesson planning and curriculum development for Multilingual Learners.
• Administer annual ACCESS testing to students and assess new students enrolling in the high school.
• Complete and maintain all required district and state paperwork related to Multilingual Learners.
• Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities.
• Create positive educational climate for students.
• Meet course and school-wide student performance goals.
• Participate in ongoing professional development.
• Create lesson plans and modify accordingly throughout the year.
• Maintain grade books.
• Utilize various curriculum resources.
• Integrate competencies, goals, and objectives into lesson plans.
• Utilize curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served.
• Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
• Prepare and distribute required reports, based on collected data.
• Observe and evaluate student performance.
• Manage student behavior in the classroom by invoking approved disciplinary procedures
