*This is a remote position that allows you to work from home while delivering instruction through virtual platforms.
Job Description:
Teaches math and/or language arts (and other relevant coursework) to prepare adult learners to pass the GED exam and to be successful in the workplace and/or post-secondary education. Applies differentiation techniques; small group strategies; independent learning; and a problem-solving approach with the implementation of evidence-based educational practices to support students in reaching their educational, personal and professional goals. Maintains accurate records including class attendance, retention, pre/post testing and student outcomes.
Responsibilities:
Assigns and grades weekly coursework in Google Classroom. Provides timely and constructive feedback to support student learning. Utilities Microsoft Whiteboard to take handwritten notes during webinars. Adapts in-person materials for digital instruction when necessary. Tracks attendance hours and maintains accurate class records.
Schedule/Time Allotment:
- Leading one scheduled 2-3 hour webinar per week via Google Meet (9 AM to noon), depending on the need of student/difficulty of the material.
- The rest of the hours (3-4 hours per week) should be used to post assignments and provide feedback on assignments.
- Available Monday - Thursday to answer student questions via email or phone.
Requirements:
Bachelor degree in education with an emphasis in English, language arts, social studies, science or math. A Bachelor degree plus experience may be substituted for an education degree. Experience teaching in a virtual environment is highly preferred. Possesses strong organizational skills and a proficiency in technology, including Google Classroom, Google Meet and Microsoft Whiteboard. Must have reliable Wi-Fi and maintains a professional, distraction-free workspace dedicated to remote instruction. Instructor should be knowledgeable about cultural differences and adult learning principles. Capable of facilitating a respectful and inclusive environment. Must uphold strict confidentiality by safeguarding all student information to ensure privacy. Must pass a background check and maintain a valid Kansas drivers license.
*The wage for this position is: $32 per instructional hour.
