High School Math Teacher

Qualifications:

  • Valid Pennsylvania Teaching Certificate in Secondary Mathematics
  • Bachelor’s Degree (minimum) in Education or related field
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and administration
  • Familiarity with educational research, statistics, and data-driven instruction
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of IDEA, Chapter 16 (Gifted Education), and Chapter 4 (Academic Standards and Assessment) regulations
  • Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

Goal:
To deliver high-quality mathematics instruction at the high school level aligned with the Tamaqua Area School District curriculum, PA Eligible Content, and PA Core Standards. The teacher will demonstrate instructional excellence, use data to guide decision-making, and contribute to a positive learning environment and academic success for all students.

Terms of Employment:
Ten (10) month school year. Salary and work year established by the Board of Education and per teacher contract. Benefits include ten vacation days and three personal days.

Evaluation:
Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with Board policy and administrative procedures by the Building Principal or Assistant Principal.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Teach high school mathematics courses as assigned, following the approved curriculum and state standards
  • Certified to teach 9-12 Algebra 1, Algebra 2, PreCalc, Calculus, Geometry or Statistics
  • Instruct students in subject matter, citizenship, and basic skills in accordance with state laws and district policies
  • Develop and submit weekly lesson plans and identify instructional resources
  • Provide differentiated instruction and small group learning opportunities to meet the needs of all students
  • Maintain classroom discipline and a positive, respectful learning environment
  • Evaluate and document student progress and communicate effectively with students and families
  • Utilize assessment data to inform instruction and improve student learning outcomes
  • Collaborate with colleagues and support staff to address academic, behavioral, and emotional student needs
  • Participate in the selection of instructional materials and assessments
  • Supervise students during class and assigned duties throughout the school day
  • Administer standardized testing in accordance with district guidelines
  • Participate in curriculum development and professional learning communities
  • Attend staff meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and school functions as required
  • Demonstrate ongoing professional growth through district-provided or approved professional development
  • Fulfill duties assigned by the Principal, Superintendent, or designee
  • Follow all district policies, procedures, and reporting requirements
  • Maintain regular and timely attendance and be able to move throughout the building and campus as necessary
