Job Description
We believe in taking great care of our providers, so they can focus on delivering exceptional patient care. We at Ro Health are currently looking for passionate individuals who have the desire to help children thrive to the best of their abilities while in school as a Special Education Teacher. As a Special Education Teacher, you would work at school districts in the Orange County area. This would be a full-time position for the 24/25 school year, to support students with visual impairments.
Position Overview
Special Education teachers work with students who have a wide range of learning, mental, emotional, and physical disabilities. They adapt general education lessons and teach various subjects, from math to English, in a way that is easier to understand for students with mild/moderate or moderate/severe disabilities. They also teach basic skills, such as literacy and communication techniques, to students with severe disabilities. The focus is to engage students in different ways to help them successfully learn the academic materials!
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
May include but not limited to:
- Assess students skills to determine their needs and to develop teaching plans
- Adapt lessons to meet the needs of students
- Help develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for each student
- Update IEPs throughout the school year to reflect students progress and goals
- Plan, organize, and assign activities specific student abilities
- Teach and mentor students as a class, in small groups, and one-on-one
- Assess students performance and progress periodically
- Discuss students progress with parents, general education teachers, counselors, and administrators
- Prepare and help students transition from grade to grade
- Comply will all company policies and applicable laws
- Handles all other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Skills
REQUIRED:
- Bachelors Degree - no specific major
- Education Specialist Instruction Credential (Mild/Mod ADE Certification)
- Prior experience working with special needs students in classroom settings
- Education Specialist Instruction Credential: Visual Impairments OR
- Special Education Specialist Instruction Credential for the Visually Handicapped
