This position serves as Substitute Coordinator and is responsible for managing and scheduling substitute teachers and tracking/reporting all teacher absences. In concert with the Assistant Superintendent-Director/Principal, Vocational Directors, and Academic Curriculum Coordinator, implement an orientation/training program, including the preparation of a Substitute Handbook, for new substitute teachers and assist them with their transition to Blackstone Valley Tech. This position also functions as a facilitator for all student assessment activities within the purview of the authority of the Blackstone Valley Vocational Regional School District. The successful candidate will work effectively with the school’s administrators, teaching faculty, school counseling and support staff to assist the District with all aspects of student assessment including special student populations. The successful candidate must possess a high degree of organization and the ability to manage human and school resources to effectively administer large-scale student assessments and manage substitute teacher assignments. The successful candidate must also possess the analytical skills necessary to derive meaningful data from assessment results and provide said data to the administration for instructional interventions. This position reports directly to the Principal or Designee.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Organize and oversee all assessment projects under the direction of the Administrative Team. These projects include but are not limited to, High School Placement Test, MCAS, ACCESS, NAEP, and CTE assessments. In addition, the successful candidate will serve as a liaison between the District and CollegeBoard®, will oversee CollegeBoard® assessments as well as serve as the Advanced Placement Coordinator, which includes administering spring AP Exams.
- Coordinate staff and school resources to effectively administer large-scale and school-wide assessments. This includes working directly with the other offices and staff regarding small group development and preparation for testing accommodations.
- Serve as a liaison to the Administrative Team to ensure that the school's total educational program is integrated and coordinated. This includes the development of an annual timeline to coordinate assessments within the school calendar.
- Develop professional skills through participation in training, conference attendance and observation to ensure that all assessments are compliant with local, State, and Federal requirements. This includes attendance at DESE update meetings as needed.
- Assist the District with the coordination of student performance initiatives including but not limited to: AP, SAT, PSAT, PSAT-10, ACCESS, and MCAS.
- Generate assessment data and effectively disseminate pertinent information to the applicable stakeholders including teaching staff, parents, students, administrators, and school committee members.
- Serve as Substitute Teacher Coordinator. In concert with the Administrative Team, coordinate and provide multiple substitutes per day to provide adequate coverage for Academics and Vocational Technical shops because of absences, meetings, school business, etc.
- Serve as liaison to the Blackstone Valley Education Foundation, the Valley Tech Ed Foundation and SkillsUSA
- Complete additional office assignments deemed appropriate by the Principal or Designee.

- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office in an Office 365 environment and willingness to learn new software programs as needed.
- Successful experience with independent project organization and management.
- Personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, teachers, administrators, and parents.
- Effective with written and verbal communication.
Compensation and Terms of Employment:
- Weekly salary based on qualifications and experience (Salary range $64,500 - $69,000)
- School year assignment + 15 days, 37.5 hours per week. Regular schedule Monday through Friday, 7.5 hours per day with a half-hour duty free lunch period. Targeted workday of 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Extended hours may be necessary at times to meet deadlines.
- The school district will provide necessary facilities, equipment, materials, and supplies as needed to accomplish assignment.
